“If you are someone who gravitates toward emotional gut punch reads, allow me to introduce you to this spectacular debut…”—
BuzzFeed

Here are three things you should know about my husband:

  1. He was the great love of my life despite his penchant for going incommunicado.
  2. He was, as far as I and everyone else could tell, perfectly happy. Which is significant because…
  3. On New Year’s Eve, he died.

And here is one thing you should know about me:

  1. I found him.

Bonus fact: No. I am not okay.

Someday, Maybe is a stunning, witty debut novel about a young woman’s emotional journey through unimaginable loss, pulled along by her tight-knit Nigerian family, a posse of friends, and the love and laughter she shared with her husband.

“Incisive and witty. I couldn’t put it down.”—Lolá Ákínmádé Åkerström, internationally bestselling author of In Every Mirror She's Black

“A masterfully woven exposition on love and loss. Nwabineli is magic with words.”—Bolu Babalola, internationally bestselling author of Honey and Spice

Don't miss Onyi Nwabineli's next stunning page-turner, ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF, where a former kidfluencer must overcome her toxic family, reclaim her identity and, ultimately, find the freedom to be herself...

Tough Subject Beautifully Written

This book was chosen as a book club pick. Honestly I wasn’t super excited to read it because of the subject matter, and being mid January when things are pretty gray outside I tend to go for something a little fluffier. The writing is excellent and the performance was too. It would be really easy to get bogged down with such a serious topic and I thought this book did a good job of exploring that but also offered hope mixed in with well timed wit. I loved Eve’s family dynamic and her friend relationships. Overall I enjoyed this one and would definitely listen to more from this author.

Beautiful interpretation of grief

Grief in words, but also a bit funny. The personalities leap off the page and the narration is perfect. There were some longer parts and definitely some unanswered questions throughout but I believe by not answering focused on this beautiful theme of not overcoming but moving and growing through grief.

Such a great read

Though this was a difficult subject to listen to and digest, I absolutely loved this book. Such a GREAT book for a debut author!

Gut wrenching & heart warming

Before I begin, I want to start by saying I am so glad I got this on audio. This is the kind of story that I personally love to listen to rather than read, seeing as it’s not a plot-heavy story. Not only that, but Adjoa Andoh does an excellent job of bringing all of the characters in this story alive through her narration, which really allowed me to immerse myself in the story being told, so kudos to her for that.

Now as far as the story itself goes, tens across the board! Not only is this book beautifully written, but it’s honest and raw, and doesn’t shy away from telling the truth about all of the layers of grief that are often not discussed. Some might argue that the book gets repetitive, and they would be right. I would argue, however, that that’s the point. Grief isn’t linear. It has peaks and valleys, and this narrative does a great job of portraying that through the pacing of this book. I’m enamored by this novel. Wonderful read.

Absolutely beautiful, heartbreaking and heartwarming.

Al the emotions of everything that entails grief and all that it encompasses. It was heartbreaking yet heartwarming at the same time. The narrative fits perfectly with the storyline.

Emotional , but wonderful !

I loved this story! It’s a hard listen as it is emotional and sad. But eye opening and a beautiful story about a woman’s strength and how her family uplifted her!

A bummer. But we’ll written

I didn’t read the synopsis before purchasing. Just wanted to support my Nigerian sista. So I may have been expecting an uplifting romcom. Ummm nah. But it’s well written and well performed.
